Brexit increased the demand for the investor visa by 46%
During the past year, over 400 investors have obtained the Tier 1 Investor Visa, which represents a 46% increase from the last year. The majority of investors are Chinese citizens (123). Russians take the second position – the number of visas issued to Russian citizens has increased from 34 to 52 in one year. The number of applicants from Turkey (24) increased by 85%, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
To obtain a visa, the investor must secure at least GBP 2 million on a UK account. The applicant is required to make an investment of the above funds into one of the following: UK government bonds, share capital, or loan capital in active and trading UK- registered companies other than those principally engaged in property investment.
