Malta approved about 1000 applications for citizenship by investment
According to official statistics, 1431 applications were submitted and 961 applications were approved from the launch of Malta Citizenship by Investment Program in 2014 to 1 July 2018.
From 30 June 2017 to 1 July 2018, 330 applications for participation in the program (along with 881 applications for family members) were submitted, which is somewhat lower than 377 applications in the previous year. Most participants (42%) come from European countries, 32% are from Asia, 9% from Africa, and 8% from Central Asia.
Within a year, the program gave Malta EUR 162 million in nonrefundable donations (EUR 672 million in total since the launch of the program). The country also received EUR 30 million investments in real property (110 million in total), EUR 23 million for rent (70 million in total) and EUR 40 million investments in government bonds (EUR 126 million in total since the launch of the program).
The annual quota of citizenship applications in the program is 1 800 not including family members.
The participants receive full-fledged European citizenship, which grants its holder the right to live and work in any country of the European Union.
